| Tafi is one of the precious few decent Western restaurants in the Haidian area, located just around the corner from Tsinghua University in Wudaokou.
Reliable, fresh and basic Italian food in a pleasant and very clean restaurant with nice decor. And the food, despite being excellent, is extremely cheap: try the lunch buffet for RMB30-35!
Dinners are usually around RMB20-30 per dish, so you can have a nice dinner including a salad and a glass of wine or a good cappucino for around RMB60 total.
The young Japanese owner / founders of the restaurant have paid a lot of attention to ensuring the restaurant is spotlessly clean, and the staff are extraordinarily polite and friendly (better than even any of the first class hotels in Beijing!).
The restaurant is on the back side of the Dongsheng Daxia, at the main intersection of Chengfu-lu facing the East Gate of Tsinghua. There is a (former) N-Mart and Watson's convenience store at the front of the building, so you need to walk around the back to find Tafi.
