| New restaurants always have some growing pains and this one as of Fall 2006 is no exception. However, one thing they do very well here is the suan la tang (hot and sour soup). It is not done in normal Chinese style which is laden with vinegar. But rather this is a delicate broth that is seasoned with lime juice and la you (hot oil). It also has nice shrimp and squid. And its more akin to what you'd find in a Thai restaurant than Chinese. The other dish we had was a beef with bitter melon. Nicely done in blackbean sauce but the melon was over cooked or not cooked with enough heat and lacked the texture i normally like. One of the few good restaurants in the area. You do pay a little more for the new ambience (30-40 rmb per dish for dishes that are usually 20rmb). |
